One of the things you should be paying attention to if you’re in a band or an independent artist is increasing your funds. It should be done through a variety of strategies in order to reach your goals faster. Grant funding is often overlooked but can be extremely beneficial for your financial situation.
Here are four grant opportunities that will help you in your music career!
PBR Music Foundation Grant
From Pabst Blue Ribbon’s Music Foundation, this grant is awarded every single month but sums vary between $5000 to $7000. It is considered to be a financial safety net and will help contribute indie artists to help surpass their goals. In order to apply, you must submit a video of why you need the funding and some other information on yourself or band.
The Leeway Foundation
This foundation supports women, trans, and queer musicians in the Delaware Valley who impact social change through their artwork.
- The Art and Change Grant: grants up to $2,500 to artists of all mediums with whose projects impact particular groups and communities and are associated to social change
- The Leeway Transformation Award: seeks artists of all mediums that demonstrated commitments to social change work
The deadlines are mainly March, May, and August annually. For more information, click here.
What is important to this Austin charity is public support. Funds are made through members who are local music fans who get access to concerts in exchange for their membership fee. Those members also take part in voting for which of those artists receive grants and how much. Those grants are then distributed in installments.
The grant limits applicants to being legal Austin residents and are considered by invitation only. You can submit for consideration here. The application is open year round.
BMI Foundation Nashville Songwriting Scholarship
This is actually a nationwide competition and is open to many different genres of music. Of the 17 to 24 year old applicants, only one will be awarded the $5,000 grant for original song. Applications are currently closed but you can add your name to the waitlist for next year’s program here.
Taking advantage of these opportunities is a great way to spread your music and also jump start your music career. So take the time apply to benefit yourself or your band.
