As Tech Crunch reports, Spotify and Starbucks just announced a new partnership. The deal will help promote Spotify Premium while also giving Starbucks customers and employees the opportunity to choose what music is played at their local Starbucks. This is the latest major deal Spotify has secured in order to further promote the brand and expand their consumer demographic.
Not only will baristas be tasked with making coffee, they will now have to control the music being played in their respective locations.
The deal also incorporates Starbucks’ loyalty program by giving My Starbucks Reward members unique access to Spotify. Reward members will be able to further influence the songs that make it on the in-store playlists.
The program will kick off in the fall by giving all 150,000 U.S.-based Starbucks employees a Spotify Premium membership, and then later roll out the service to Starbucks customers.
It’s been one heck of a week thus far for Spotify as they already have announced a new feature of the app launching in the next week or so.
