We’re extremely thrilled to announce that we have partnered with Native Instruments for their new STEMS Music experience. As an open multi-track audio format, Stems enhances creative possibilities for DJs, producers, and live performers. A Stem file contains a track split into four musical elements: A drums stem, a bassline stem, a melody stem, and a vocal stem for example.
The Stem format provides the ability to freely interact with a track’s different musical elements. Each ‘stem’ can be controlled independently to create instant new mixes, mashups, instrumentals, a cappellas, and more. Check out this video below to get more information.
This format now being heavily spearheaded by Native Instruments is a really positive one for not only Electronic Dance Music but additionally for Download sales. It is very apparent that download sales are in a decline however, with this format a consumer (DJ) will be able to purchase the format at various fine EDM specific retailers thus growing and diversifying a download model that has had its challenges throughout the years.
In the coming days, every user of Symphonic Distribution will see an updated page under “Stem Distribution” to highlight the new format and what Labels and Artists can do to be featured within the format. We’re also preparing a helpful knowledge base to assist many with any questions they may have. On the meantime Native Instruments, very helpful FAQ is also available here and full details on the new product can be found on their website.
