This interactive conference takes place in and was founded in Austin, Texas. South by Southwest integrates the film and music industries to provide a platform for creative minds to connect and achieve goals, and for myriad networking opportunities. Since 1987, It has been a place of discovery and innovation for the professionals of the future. The next conference will be held for 10 days, March 10-19, 2017, featuring trade shows, exhibitions, panels, food and more. Be sure to register, you don’t want to miss out on the experience.

Next year’s American Association of Independent Music conference will be held June 5-9 in New York City. Last year’s event saw over 820 independent music label executives from 15 countries, and next year is forecasted to be the largest to date. Representatives from Reeperbahn, SoundExchange, and BuzzAngle Music were some of the keynote speakers from the five-day conference. A2IM aims to improve and protect independent music businesses through education, and relationship-building. Next year, the conference will coincide with A2Im’s 6th Annual Libera Awards, which recognizes achievements of independent labels and artists.

The American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers allots an opportunity to have your songs heard by experts and music professionals, and to connect with the best in the music business. It’s held in Los Angeles, California April 13-15, 2017. If you register early, you can get an exceptionally discounted price, and an opportunity to attend the events that usually sell out. One-on-One Sessions is one of those events that you wouldn’t want to miss out on. It’s a 15- minute long session for $30, and includes a personal conversation with a professional to receive advice and feedback on your career.

The National Association of Music Merchants is devoted to promoting the creation of music to people of all ages. It is an exhibit for professionals and members to explore new music products and technology, including audio, lighting, and live sound. It’s an opportunity to build buzz around your brand, connect with distributors, and showcase your own products. The next show begins January 19-22, 2017 and will be held in Anaheim, California. You must be 18 or older to attend, and membership is a requirement. Be sure to register in advance.
Cost of Attendance: Free Badges for members until January 4, 2017, 11:59PM. $50-$100 after this deadline. Depending on your field, there’s an annual fee and $265 application fee.
