Here’s why you should keep your details updated, what happens if they aren’t updated, and how to change your details via our SymphonicMS platform.
At Symphonic, we realize that as a client, your situation may change. You may move into a new house, a new country, and/or if you have a record label, invite new owners into your growing business. These sorts of changes are important for us as your distributer to know for a variety of reasons.
It is important that we always have your updated address, email, and account details. We send out a variety of newsletters all aimed to provide you with the latest news, tips, and resources to help your material grow.
If you don’t update your email, well, it’s quite obvious that you will miss these important announcements and helpful suggestions.
An additional important tip is to ensure that Symphonic isn’t blocked or going to your junk or spam. You can check with your email or Internet provider to clear our domains whenever we send an email to ensure you are always receiving all of our communications.
We additionally may reach out by sending you a message that will show up on the SymphonicMS via the Messages tool found in the header of the platform.
Now that your account details are in order, let’s talk about something that everyone loves…TAXES!
Every distribution company or digital service provider such as Beatport, iTunes, Spotify and more has to comply with tax rules and regulations. The rules and regulations differ by country, but they involve you providing information for a company like us to properly report to the tax agencies.
Because compliance and tax reporting is important, we can’t stress enough the importance for you to always have your tax details filled out correctly.
Failure to do so will mean that your payment will be placed on hold until we receive your corrected tax details. The tax details differ based on where you are based so USA clients will see a W9 while international clients will see an area to enter a W8-BEN.
There are different tax guidelines for both USA and International based record labels and artists. We’ve set up a very helpful knowledge base that explains everything taxes and how they pertain to you which you can read up on via www.symphonic.help.
Further, anytime you move and/or your address changes, it is also important that you go forth and update your account details as well because if we do not have corrected and valid information, we can’t proceed with payment.
Lastly, to change both your account and tax details, all you have to do is log on to the SymphonicMS, click “Account” and through that menu item you can update your Account and Tax details at all times.
It is likely that you will be asked to update your details when you request a payment and our team will always review your requests and ensure we have the proper detail on file to ensure you can move forward.
