In addition to the playlist takeover, we had a great conversation about their influences, personal insights, and more. Here’s what he said…
1.) Who/ what got you into music?
I originally started getting in to rock music as a teenager, that was where it all started. Listening to rock, metal & pop punk inspired me to learn guitar and then everything developed and evolved over the years to take me to where I am now, creating electronic music. I still play guitar on a lot of my tracks & it’s the instrument I feel most comfortable on, despite my obsession with Synths these days.
2.) What advice would you give to other artists trying to make it in the industry?
I could write a book on this question! — I think one thing I’m learning more and more, is to trust my gut instinct on things. The music industry is a whirlwind of knowledge, information, ideas & opinions and it’s constantly changing and evolving, so I honestly think most industry ‘professionals’ often know a lot less than they make out – so don’t always take every persons word as gospel. Make your own judgement on situations, you will make mistakes along the way but you will learn from them and it will help you grow. A key piece of advice creatively speaking, would be to stay true to your vision and be proud of your work. Also, don’t expect success overnight, if you love it enough and are committed to honing your craft, then eventually you should start seeing some results.
3.) What’s your favorite track on the playlist and why?
I love all of them in different ways. If I had to pick one right now I’d probably say the final track ‘Operator’ as it’s such a mood lifter and reminds me of being a Meredith Festival in late 2019 before Covid, watching DJ Koze with my friends and dancing for hours!
4.) If you could be a fruit, what fruit would you be and why?
Ohh, tricky one. I think I’d go with passionfruit. Firstly, I love the taste of them and they don’t get as much airtime as the mainstream fruits like Apples & Oranges! Always good to support the underdog, which can be applied to life too. 😉
